Last 8th January, during a cocktail at Gucci Garden in Florence, set on the occasion of Pitti Uomo’s opening, it was presented the new “Dapper Dan’s Harlem” photo book.

For this new collaboration with the Italian brand – the first one was the photographic book “Epiphany” that immortalized Gucci Pre-Fall 2016 men and women collections – Ari Marcopoulos decided to investigate the magic universe of one of the coolest New York’s neighborhood: Harlem.

“Dapper Dan’s Harlem” is a limited edition book that first of all pays an homage to the Hip-Hop couturier Dapper Dan, great maison’s friend, who joins Gucci last year creating together a capsule collection of ready-to-wear and accessories, also seen on our #9 issue.

Marcopoulos’s lenses well capture the soul of the home of this incredible and off the grind designer, but especially that subculture he contributed to create throughout his works.

As in a truly journey, pages after pages, in fact, we bumped directly in a unique place, where the time seems to be stopped in an unknown age. Every single pictures are settled by stylish and charming creatures who show off , without any fair or embarrassment, their personal allure and elegance.

Everything looks so naturally and real and the only thing we can think is that all of this is part of a fantasy tale, who every bodies want to join as a character.

In addition to Marcopoulos’s original pics, the book presents also the work of other Alessandro Michele’s beloved partners: from the artist Trevor Andrew – the mind behind Gucci Ghost phenomenon – to the poetess and writer Cleo Wade and the author Steve Stoute.

You can find this “Bible of Harlem”- available only in 1000 copies – online at at Idea London and at the Gucci Garden in Florence and at Gucci Wooster Bookstore in New York.
