The designers of Botter won the Grand Prix of Hyères International Fashion Festival, of photography and accessories, proposing a capsule about the sea for Petite Bateau

The Dutch duo, Lisi Herrebrugh and Rushemy Botter, the founders of the brand Botter and recently appointed creative directors of the Nina Ricci fashion house, are the winners of the Grand Prix of the Première Vision jury. Since 2013, Petit Bateau has started a partnership with the Hyères Festival to give the opportunity to new talented designers to reinterpret the codes of the 120-years-old French brand for children.

This year the jury at Festival Première Vision got impressed by the playful yet conscious collection created by Botter. The capsule focuses on the issue of oceans’ pollutions, re-inventing he maison’s iconic pieces and rising awareness in a childish, cute mode.

“The clothes must be fun!” Lisi and Rushemy said.

“Fish or Fight” collection is indeed both a tribute to the elegance of young Caribbean people and a denunciation of industrial fishing that is damaging the sea and threatening the local fishing community.

Irregular and imperfect stripes evoking ocean waves are reproduced by the scans of used plastic bags, recovered on the beaches or in the street. Other prints are hand-painted flowers and wavy plants like algae, a wild nature that invades clothes reflecting the joyful essence of Petit Bateau. As for the silhouette, the two creatives propose pure lines: simple and oversized shapes to blend the boundaries between feminine and masculine wardrobe.

The whole collection will be available from April 24 in selected Petit Bateau stores and at website: Petit Bateau
