Fashion evolution is taking paths where seasons are not allowed. Perhaps because we are more and more eager to have everything immediately – it’s insane seeing how “see now buy now” collections are enormously increased during these last years – or maybe because of this crazy weather changing too fast and seeing temperatures suddenly move from 12 Celsius degrees to 30. It may sound lame but couldn’t be more appropriate than now to say: “mid-seasons don’t longer exist”, and in fashion neither…
Drops, limited releases, capsule collections are the very new headwords of a mode vocabulary constantly changing. Owning – or rather awarding – that almost unique item amongst the myriad of identical fast fashion’s products became a priority for many of us.
Big fashion houses begin to follow this revolutionary wave, abandoning little by little the démodé idea of creation and selling.
“The Next Chapter” of fashion making-process began last September when Moncler Genius first showed it to insiders and public, launching the namesake project. No more a unique vision, no more seasonal concept but different fashion approaches and creations join together under the sign of a big one house, that of Moncler.
Moncler Genius grew up and now is ready to a world tour, also welcoming some new entries such as Richard Quinn, Matthew Williams of 1017 ALYX 9SM, Veronica Leoni and Sergio Zambon 2 Moncler 1952 creative directors, already presented together with the old friendships, last February 20th on the occasion of Milan Fashion Week with an exhibition-event.
To celebrate the first stage of the scheduled global trip, the House answered to London’s call, organizing yesterday a big exclusively party in the capital to launch 8 Moncler Palm Angles designed by Francesco Ragazzi.
“Breaking Art” tour literally took Londoner streets, but first also those of Milan as we could see form IG Moncler official account, that the day before the event published a video of the very designer spraying up the Milanese flagship store, announcing a collection based on the concept of a protest against the rules.
With its motto “Mind Control”, 8 Moncler Palm Angels, according to Ragazzi, infact, opens a reflection on the relationship between an environment often quite unaccessible – that of art – and a world that belongs to everyone – the street. Looking at the images – made exclusively in collaboration with the artist Willi Dorner – the aseptic atmosphere of an art gallery collides with the metropolitan streetwear’s colorful vitality, giving rise to a sort of conceptual and yet brutal fight. “I started with the idea of a vandalized art gallery” said Ragazzi “Lines and shapes’ pureness that at a later time crashes with the protest”.
Trying to make the puffer coat- usually linked to the technical and sporty wardrobe – a perfect urban piece, Ragazzi reinterprets the Moncler item par excellence, playing with volumes, proportions and also materials. Mirroring effect laminated nylon makes shining coats, parkas and pants too while street culture and punk references are easily to recognize from the collage prints on jackets, shirts and scarfs as well as from the graffiti-like brand’s sign.
Even if changes are always scary this time don’t loose the Moncler Genius revolution train. Stay on track and follow the world tour of the new way of fashion.
