Spirit of Portopiccolo, the maxi yacht of the most exclusive tourist town on the Adriatic sea, is taking the field for the 49th edition of Barcolana. Guided by Benussi brothers, winners of the 2016 world famous regatta.

Barcolana, the most popular regatta in the world, turns Trieste into the international capital of sailing for two weeks, this year from September 29th to Sunday October 8th. Unusual and intriguing activities, art and photography exhibitions, tastings and concerts inspired by sea life, make all this experience unique. Visitors are invited to dive into a series of events organized to explore the city of Trieste and its history, traditions, culture and food, by following a path that meanders through the city where various shops express their creativity and hospitality.

For the first time ever, Yacht Club Portopiccolo is challenging to win the Barcolana race with the Spirit of Portopiccolo yacht, already known with the name of Morning Glory among all over the world sea races. The 86 foot super racing yacht, made by carbon and leaded by Benussi brothers, Furio (helmsman) and Gabriele (tactical), from Trieste born and bred, is getting ready to face the 2017 edition of Barcolana, aspiring to reach a record level of attendance this year.

Spirit of Portopiccolo has been officially presented on September 29th during the Portopiccolo Maxi Race 2017 (Sep.29th- Oct.1st). This regatta is born from an idea of the Yacht Club President Claudio de Eccher, to officially celebrate the club activity with a local event. This edition reveals a level of subscription 30% higher than the previous one, confirming that the territory is strongly bold with sea and sailing.
