In the brutalist building of the Russian Embassy in Paris Rei Kawakubo, recently celebrated by the  Metropolitan Museum in New York with a retrospective (the second for a live designer after Yves Saint Laurent) sent on the catwalk only 16 looks. But her message was very clear: her collection that she defined “Multi-dimensional graffiti” was a patchwork of all the visual stimuli that bombard us today. A cacophony of prints and details were mixed together to create beautiful oversize outfits: manga characters, Arcimboldo, black and white photographs, Dutch master flowers and computer generated colorful prints. All topped with voluminous wigs worth of a Star Wars character and accessories made of a collage, again!, of  plastic toys and colored knickknacks.
